Welcome to Phasing Out of Trauma

Welcome to Phasing Out of Trauma — a Christ-centered, trauma-informed ministry that helps women heal from the pain of their past and rediscover who God created them to be.

Whether you’ve experienced loss, abuse, betrayal, or any form of emotional or spiritual wounding, this is a place where you can breathe, be seen, and begin to heal at your own pace.

What is Phasing Out of Trauma?

We are a Christ-centered, trauma-informed, peer-led community for women with unresolved or complex trauma. Whether you’ve just walked through a single traumatic event or carried pain for years, you’re welcome here. Join weekly General Meetings to hear others, share your story, encounter God’s healing, and access mentorship and our Phase Work program.

Christ-Centered

We understand that for true, lasting healing, God must be at the center, and our image of Him needs to be restored and renewed.
Healing the spiritual aspects of ourselves through the lens of our Christian faith, where women encounter the God who sees them, loves them, knows them, and has never condemned them nor desired the harm they endured.

Trauma Informed

We also understand that studied psychological milestones must be met in order to truly move forward after living with trauma for years and sometimes decades. Healing the psychological aspects of ourselves through a trauma-informed lens acknowledges that unresolved and complex trauma changes everything—yet with the right scaffolding, everything can be healed.

Peer-Led

Lastly, we understand that working alone with counselors or spiritual directors can only take us so far, because that type of healing happens in isolation. Healing the social aspects of ourselves through the lens of our peers reminds us that we are not alone in our experiences or struggles—and it gives us hope that we are equally not alone in our victories.

Psychological Scafolding

Our 18 Phase approach is based on ASCA's proven psychological scaffolding. We condensed their 21 stage approach, and added trauma informed language and concepts in order to ensure that our women were not getting stuck or triggered by language and concepts that do not apply to them.

We also tie in some of the 12-step approaches which again have been modified in order to ensure our participants do not feel like addicts or co-addicts - trauma is not addition - nor is it codependency - it's something completely different.

Spiritual Scafolding

Our 18 Psychological Phases are paired with 18 Spiritual Phases so each phase is working to renew the mind AND the soul. We looked to Anne Richardson's decades of Spiritual Direction, and Celebrate Recovery for guidance as to how to scaffold these phases.

It's a very delicate thing to repair our spirituality and it's important that women are not asked to simply trust and believe that God is for them - we understand trauma shakes our very core beliefs. Coming to the understanding that we are God's Beloved Daughters is key to our recovery work.

Why Peer Support Works - Noting is Covered Up

When you are in a peer group where your Co-Leaders are working on the same things you are - they have nothing to hide - our Co-Leaders are not experts, they don't have it all figured out. They are not here to "give you the answers".

They are exploring the topics, teachings, phases the same as you are, and applying them to their own lives and bringing those experiences back into group the very next week.

Our Co-Leaders have nothing to hide from you, and no reason to hide it - they desire participants to understand just where they are and have been in order to normalize the weight of the experience we are all carrying, and to give hope and testimony as to what God is doing, has done, and is still promising to do everyday from here on out.

Share

At each group, women have a chance to share their own experiences so they can continue to process and gain greater understanding to what's happening and how to resolve it.

Hear

At each group, women have a chance to hear what other ladies are experiencing to gain insights on their own journey.

Spiritual Practice

At each meeting women will be introduced to a new spiritual practice tied to the phase of the month to help them bring God further into their healing journey

Continued Prayer Support

Women leave covered in prayers for the week, and encouraged to pray for one another throughout the week.

"My therapist says that this is the best thing
that I could have come across,"

Help Women Find Freedom

Let's be honest, mental health care is not as widely available as it should be, and many of the people who are experiencing complex and compound trauma do not have adequate access to quality support that lasts year-round with no caps or co-pays.

Our group stands in those gaps, and holds women when they need it the most.

Every dollar you gives directly confronts the negative messages they've received sometimes their whole life that they are not worthy of healing, that no one really cares what they've gone through, and that they are all alone.

Thank  you for helping us make this possible as we continue to work towards becoming a charitable organization under a fiscal sponsor.
