Safety First - Crisis Prevention Resources

The following hotlines offer crisis prevention and immediate access to a live person to help you navigate whatever you’re facing. These are great phone numbers to save in your phone as you never know when you might need to call. Many organizations will also connect you to local resources for continued support.
National Suicide and Crisis Line – 988
The 988 Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This is a completely confidential and free service. They are committed to improving crisis services and advancing suicide prevention by empowering individuals going through a crisis.
MCRT - Mobile Crisis Response Teams – (888) 724-7240
In San Diego MCRT can be dispatched for a mental health emergency that does not carry an immediate threat to self or others by calling the Access and Crisi Line.
Team members are behavioral health experts and include a licensed mental health clinician, case manager, and peer support specialist. These clinical teams provide assessments, de-escalation, and connect the person to the right services for them. Transportation to local services is also available.

ACL - The San Diego Access & Crisis Line – (888) 724-7240
Calls to the ACL help to address suicide prevention and crisis intervention, provide alcohol and substance use referrals, mental health referrals, and referrals to other community resources; it can also activate the Mobile Crisis Response Team,
Confidential and free of charge, the ACL serves as the local crisis call center and is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

National Human Trafficking Hotline – (888) 373-7888
If you or someone you know needs help, call the hotline toll-free hotline, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a specially trained Anti-Trafficking Hotline Advocate.
If you are being forced to have sex for money or something of value against your will, are under 18 and engaging in commercial sex, or are being forced to work or perform services against your will, they can help you.
RAINN – National Sex Assault Hotline – (800) 656-4673
RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, and operates the national assault hotline with over 1,000 sexual assault service providers across the country.

SART – Sexual Assault Response Team - 911
In San Diego, SART is initiated at the 911 emergency call, and can be called into the process at any and every next step along the way.
The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) program is designed to provide emotional support and advocacy to sexual assault victims during the hospital “rape exam”, questioning by law enforcement and beyond. To find out more visit:

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association - (800) 662-4357
SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a treatment referral routing service that is confidential, free, and offered 24-hours-a-day, 365-day-a-year for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.
